Visiting Venice on your way home from Albergo Frohsinn, San Cassiano can be a superb end to your ski holiday. Following the cancellation of Easyjet’s Bristol flights on Saturdays, we decided to spend a night in Venice & fly home on Sunday. After searching the internet, we found a very reasonable hotel in Cannaregio on Venice’s main island, “Ai Due Leoni” is located in a quiet residential area just 10 mins walk from St Lucia station.
Snow started falling in Alta Badia, Dolomiti Superski, on Friday morning & snow showers continue. Pistes were already covered since the snowfall a couple of weeks ago, & there is now over 80cm at village level this morning. Reports of conditions on the pistes which opened yesterday will follow in the next couple of days, as everyone is too busy enjoying the fresh powder!
I’ve always got to fly from Bristol, and can never get a flight to fit with our set time transfers. I’ve done the car hire option in the past, which works really well for a short break costing from around £70 for a small car for three days from http://www.holidayautos.co.uk
This photo was taken on our terrace this morning after yesterdays big snowfall. Our guests are having a brilliant day on the Grand Motte glacier!
The Grand Motte glacier received several centimetres of fresh snow yesturday. MountainSun staff at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes report it was even snowing on their terrace in Tignes Les Boisses & conditions on the glacier are good.
It’s hard to believe that the summer that never was has flown by, & the 2008-09 ski season is already underway. This weekend saw the launch of the Edge2edge Ski & Board Camp at Chalet Hotel Les Melezes, & MountainSun kicked it all off in great style with a wonderful party weekend!
After a fun packed summer mountain biking, whitewater rafting, climbing & skiing, the glacier has now closed! We look forward to it re-opening on 26th September for Ski & Board Camp, where our guests will be testing next winter’s equipment in conjuction with UK’s leading retailer Edge2edge.
